According to Matthew 28:18-20,
Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, all power is given unto me in heaven
and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to
observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you
always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Jesus is our example. He was not only issued this
command—the Great Commission—but also modelled it by preaching the gospel and
training His own disciples. The apostle Paul followed the same pattern,
devoting his life to evangelism and disciple-making. He wrote:
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many
witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach
others also (2Timothy 2:2).
We believe this mandate applies to every generation of
Christ’s followers, including ours.
Jesus never intended us to pursue the mission in isolation, but
according to John 17:20-21 we must join with all churches — brothers and
sisters in Christ to do this great work together with Holy Spirit as our
leader.
Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which
shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou,
Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the
world may believe that thou hast sent me. (John 17:20-21)
Therefore, empowered by the Holy Spirit, we joyfully partner
with local churches of every denomination—Protestant, Baptist, Methodist,
Presbyterian, Pentecostal, Charismatic, Adventist, Lutheran, Salvation Army,
Catholic, and others—provided they confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and the
only way of salvation.
Time and again we have witnessed the beauty of ministers
from diverse backgrounds joining hands to fulfil Christ’s Great Commission
together.
