Don’t Feel Rich and Arrogant, but Honor The Holy Spirit
Revelation 3:17-22 (NKJV) Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
Be careful with this condition. If we feel rich spiritually, and finally we feel enough, we don’t feel need to be counseled by anyone especially by the Holy Spirit. We feel we don’t need His counsel, we don’t need Him. His voice can be very gentle and faithfully guide us, but we don’t want to hear it.
We often don’t realise that we are Spirit filled people and didn’t pay enough appreciation to the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 1:13-14 (NKJV) In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
The Holy Spirit within us has done everything to bring us to all salvation. But how do we treat Him? Are we willing to listen to Him? He never forced us to repent. He is not an ordinary Person. He is God who is willing to dwell within us and be with us for 24 hours. He did it because He desires 100 percent leading us in His own right paths.
If only we realize that He is not only beside us but He is within us for 24 hours we won’t do anything wrongly. Often times it is because we don’t see Him that we don’t believe Him. How often we don’t honor Him and make waste of His presence. He is the same God who was in the mount of Sinai.
This is the time to listen to the Holy Spirit and also to our brothers and sisters in Christ. In fact when they advise us we often get angry at them. The truth is they care for us and want us to go to heaven. It is a privilege for us to have brothers and sisters in Christ. It is a great blessing from God.
The same thing is when we are advised by the Holy Spirit. We get help both from the Holy Spirit and our brothers and sisters in Christ. These are God’s great mercy and goodness for us. The fact was oftentimes we rejected them and it must be countless times we rejected the Holy Spirit. He is so patient. Our richness can talk about our own confident that caused us rejecting every advice that come to us. We don’t accept any advice because of our arrogance.
Our repentance must bear fruit. We also have to be honest so that we can see our own condition and see ourselves, to see how poor we are.
Rich people are they who reject the counsel and advice from the Holy Spirit and spiritual brothers, and reject to change in a true repentance. If we only listen and don’t take any actions to do it means we just talk only but no actions. A true repentance will truly bear fruits.
Return to the Lord just like the prodigal son who came home and returned to his father with such a humble heart.
Revelation 3:18 “I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.”
We must realise dan admit that we have so many weaknesses and come to Him with all our heart.
God has prepared us Spiritual richness, the power of God, the calling of God, how He will use us. That is the true richness He has given us. It is not only about the call to minister but a call to live with Him eternally. God wants to give the most precious treasure that as a valuable gold. But often times we think that we have gold and we are rich, in fact we are very poor. Our richness, our gold are just a waste because it is calculated according to the world.
Often times we see the waste of the world is higher and more costly than the calling.
The lust of the flesh will bear sin and finally will end up in death that lead us to hell.
His specific plan about us has already been there before the world began. We often feel that our plan is the best one whereas we don’t know yet what is going to happen to our life.
We have to meditate continually what happen if we are not in His planning.
Who we are that we feel our own plans are better than God”s plans.? How many times we feel we know better than God and feel cleverer than God? If we can live holy life it is only because of His help and grace.
The white garments symbolise the sincerity and holiness God gave. And eye salve is to see what is right and wrong, this is a privilege given by God, the ability to see the mistake and also the truth spiritually.
Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV) For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Revelations 3:19 (NKJV)
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
This should make us joyful because He gives us a way to repent. As long as we are committed and full heartedly surrendering our heart God will give to His own plans to bring us live with Him eternally.
It is true that we often hurt the Holy Spirit and we are poor. But the good news is that God is always waiting for us to repent and leave our own ways of life.
Revelations 3: 21 (NKJV)
To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
If we have finished our faith race in victory then He has promised to sit us together with the Father in His throne.
Galatians 3:3 (NKJV)
Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?
This is the precious and important moments to wait for His coming. All the signs of His coming are already fulfilled and this time will pass. Don’t ever finish and end up this race in the lust of the flesh.
2 Timothy 4:7-8 (NKJV)
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.
Just like Paul who finished the race in victory and kept the faith all along his life.
We are living in a very wondrous moment, we live in victory, to live together with Him in heaven. The plan of God is to take us to heaven. God has a dream and plan over our life so that we can live with God eternally.
Let us fight the good faith, finish the race and keep our faith more full heartedly. Let us not follow our flesh that will lead us to death. There will be no worries for them who are waiting for the coming of God.
