Who We Are

Based on the vision from the Lord on December 5th, 1984, “Wherever you go, you will build a tabernacle of praise,” we established a church, GPPI Pondok Daud, on March 23rd, 1986. This was the first Sunday Service we conducted in Jakarta.

GPPI stands for Gereja Pusat Pantekosta Indonesia (Indonesian Centre Pentecostal Church) where the Synod headquarter is located in Kediri, East Java.
Pondok Daud in English can be translated as The Tabernacle of David.

Our motto is “Jemaat Yang Dewasa, Penuh Puji Pujian Dan Siap Diangkat” or in English can be translated “Growing to Mature Congregation Who Is Full of Praises and Prepare To Be Raptured”.

We strongly believe that we are living at the end of the End Times. So everything must be executed fast, strongly, full of love and care, and of course, need a good cooperation with all members of the Body of Christ. As the result, we openly collaborate with all denominations of churches in Indonesia to join hands together accomplishing the Great Commission of Jesus, due to the time that is very short. Consequently, one of the reasons GPPI Pondok Daud never opens branches in cities or provinces out of Jakarta is to show our commitment to cooperate with any local churches in every city.

As long as our partners believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior, believe that Jesus Christ came from heaven and died on the cross for our sins, buried and raised on the third day, so we are on the same platform to do the ministry as the Lord commissioned (See our Ministry Principles for the details).

Later on we realized that once the Tabernacle of Praise was built then God is present, according to Psalm 22:3 (KJV) “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.” It happened whenever God is exalted, His name is praised, the presence of the Lord would overwhelm us and we felt the love of God which made our hearts humble and meek as we experienced the unspeakable joy and brotherly love poured upon us. Moreover, sometimes healing miracles might happen according to God’s will, a new song inspired, even restoration of people’s life.
